How do I reduce an image to under 100 KB or 50 KB?

Set max width to 800–1080 px and lower the quality to 60–70%. Most photos then drop well under 100 KB; lower the width further for 50 KB or 20 KB limits on application forms.

Will compression reduce quality?

At 70–80% quality the difference is hard to see, while the file is often 60–90% smaller.

Which format is smallest?

WebP is usually 25–35% smaller than JPG at the same visual quality and works in all modern browsers.
